Responsible pet owners

To the editor:

It is sad when some one loses a beloved pet, but when they lose one because they are irresponsible in caring properly for their pet, it is even worse. Especially if they don’t think it is their own fault. To blame others because a pet comes up missing is sad. Sad to think if they would have kept their pet on a leash — a law for dogs and cats — or in their yard or house, maybe nothing would have happened to the pet.

We as homeowners should not have to put up with stray pets in our yards. If they run the neighborhood, we consider them strays! We have been harassed and threatened because our neighbors can’t or won’t take responsibility for not taking proper care of their pet.

The letters we have received and the verbal abuse and threats in a local store parking lot do not scare us. Take care of your pet.
