Why is the water so salty?
To the editor:
Can anyone tell me why the water in Matlacha is so salty? Why is my new shaving cream can rusting already, my new faucet is corroded? Has anyone else noticed that when you water your new fruit trees or flowers they don’t seem to respond but a bit of rain and they green right up? Doc said to cut down on salt. I’d love to but I drink a lot of water which tastes good but is so very salty. Your copper pipes don’t like the water either and re-pipes are a way of life here.
Why is our tap water so salty? Someone said that salt water is added after the RO process to make it taste better. Is this a trade-off we thought much about and then decided to make? This is a serious health issue. Who decides to add salt to our water?
