Thank you island friends

To the editor:

As a former resident of Pine Island, I wish to commend a group of islanders who gave our home a “makeover” prior to its being sold. We had intended to come down in January and ready our home for sale, but I was diagnosed with cancer and began a series of chemotherapy sessions which precluded our coming. Some members of St. John’s Episcopal Church, my former church, and members of the Pine Island Boat Club, joined together and worked diligently to prepare our home for sale. This is the kind of community spirit which endeared us to the island and to its people when we initially came to live in our retirement.

Joel and Genevera Koonce of St. John’s organized the group to do the “makeover”, Even though we haven’t seen all that they have done, we know it is immaculate. We thank all of them in the spirit of community which makes the island what it is.
