More on Dollar General signage

2 min read

To the editor:

I must make comment on a Plea to Dollar General by Annie Wenz, “activist”, who makes it sound like everyone agrees with her. Well, they don’t. I counted 14 signs between Flamingo Bay and the center, and among those, the Subway sign and the entire structure is an eyesore. I am glad to see DG here and welcome them! And, besides, I love the color yellow. It reminds us all of Florida sunshine.

There are people on this island that don’t have the resources or the transportation to shop off-island for cheaper prices. This offers something for everyone. The new building itself is beautiful and the Florida-style architecture.

Seriously, I speak for myself and most of my friends who aren’t offended by the sign at all.

I was going to write last year about Annie’s letter regarding snowbirds who gawk and drive too slow. Well, this snowbird, wonders what she would do for a living in the winter if we snowbirds weren’t here.

There are worse things in the world right now to complain and worry about, and the Dollar General sign just isn’t one of them.
