A plea to Dollar General
To the editor:
It was suggested I send the Eagle a copy of the note I sent to the project manager of the Dollar General. I’ve been told that there is a smaller sign being made and I’ve also been told that’s not so. I guess we’ll find out soon how important their hopeful future customer’s input is!
Hello Mr. Jagneau,
Sr Construction Project Manager, Dollar General Regarding Dollar General. I’ll be brief, because I believe my point and the feelings of most islanders are quite simple.
Pine Island is very different than other areas of the U.S. and Florida, considered to be a hidden jewel, “like old Florida and Americana”. We are proud of our non “in your face” style, and for most of us, we live and visit here precisely because of that beautiful, less commercial style.
We are your potential customers. We know Dollar General is here, and we will in fact be equally be aware of its presence if there was a smaller, (and less disgusting!!!) sign to announce it!
I am hoping/begging that you be kind enough respect the wishes of your potential customers and adjust that sign. It seems to me to be a fairly simple concession and good will gesture towards neighbors.
Please show us you care about what we think and how we feel.
And if we don’t matter, I’d love for you to explain why? It sure seems to be a simple request.
***If you are not the person to whom I should be pleading my case, please direct me accordingly.
I look forward to hearing from you!
