Lions say thank you

To the editor:

Thanks to Winn-Dixie, Circle K and St. James General Store for allowing the Greater Pine Island Lions to collect donations in front of your establishments from Jan. 12 through Feb. 9. Thanks also to those in the community who generously donated to the Lions’ goal of providing free eye exams and glasses for our children, elderly and others who cannot afford them.

The money collected will allow us to provide exams and glasses for 12 additional people in our community.

Thank you and please support our 2011 raffle/auction to be held on March 26, at the St. James City Civic Center on Fourth and Lemon. Only 100 tickets will be available. Tickets are a $100 donation and entitles the bearer to a buffet for two, a chance to win the grand prize of $3,500 or second prize of $500 or five prizes of $100 each. An auction of items that have been donated by community businesses will be held throughout the evening as well as 50/50 drawings. Tickets are available from Lions members by calling 283-9761 or at locations identified in another announcement.
