I remember $4.50 a gallon gas
To the editor:
I remember $4.50 a gallon gas, I remember blocked Health Care for 9/11 responders and workers. I remember tax breaks for the wealthy. I remember a needless 4 trillion dollar war. I remember groceries tripling for 1999, along with utilities all across the U.S. I remember who cancelled the scheduled rebuilding of the levies in Louisiana in 2002. I remember who canceled my mpg and clean standards in place for vehicles for better gas mileage before the $4.50 a gallon price.
I remember allowing the manipulation of barrels of oil on the stock market to $150 while OPEC was charging the same price per barrel making record profits for oil companies as well as Wall Street millionaires who were stealing money out of our pockets to theirs and did nothing until July 2008 to stop this manipulation of middle men. I remember our president then was on one of his six week vacations when Katrina hit.
I for one have waited a long time, over 30 years, for an alternative oil. I welcome the innovation and future thinking to make us less dependent and give us an alternative that we have not had in the past. With a 310 million population that is going to double again in a few years, someone has to address this. You all paid $4 a gallon before and just complained, when someone addresses the only solution to the future problem of $8 a gallon, you again just complain and blame the only people who have taken positive steps to change our future and give all Americans a chance for future in the 21st century. I remember in 1955 when the income tax rate for all earnings over $1 million was 95 percent to pay off the National Debt!
I for one realize we have to change ourselves, the natural resources will not sustain our growing population.
This letter is actually in response to the “Gas Pains” letter.
