To the editor:
My short reign as Madam of the Matlacha Hookers is coming to an end. It has been such an honor to be part of such an elite group of women and it wouldn’t be possible without the help of so many.
A strong thank you to the Madams before me, who constantly nourish the growth of the organization and who continually offer guidance and assistance. A big warm hug to the 2010 Board of Directors, a group of very dedicated women who always had my back and never complained about my lack of organizational skills. We had a very successful year!
My sincere gratitude to all the women in our organization, who selfishly donate their time, their money, their ideas, their skills. It’s great to be around so many strong women and the energy we pull from each other is amazing. And we don’t do it alone — we often rope in our husbands, our friends, our family and neighbors and we appreciate all their help and time as well.
To our counterpart, The Matlacha Mariners: thanks for such a wonderful working relationship! Beauty and brawn make such a great combination!
And a great big thank you to our community! To the many businesses, artists and musicians who contribute to our fund-raisers by providing locations, food items, gift certificates, art, talent and knowledge. To the many residents of Pine Island who help us help so many others — we couldn’t do it without the support of this community.
We look forward to another great year!
