Thank you volunteers
To the editor:
When I look around this community we all call home, there isn’t a day that you don’t see someone volunteering for a charity, a club or their church.
As a member and officer of the Pine Island Women of the Moose, each week I see volunteers help with the kitchen, decorating the lodge or just helping out where it is needed. But the one thing we all need to do is say thank you. It isn’t said enough and it is such a vital need for the clubs to stay active.
Most of the activities on this island would not take place without the kindness of these tireless souls that take time out of their lives to do something for someone else. We are now approaching the holiday season and the bell ringers will be in front of the Winn Dixie asking for donations just as the veterans, schools and local civic groups do year round. When you give what you can, remember to say thank you for doing this.
So remember, the next time you order your lunch or dinner at the VFW, Elks, American Legion or Moose, say thanks to the people in the kitchen and let them know you appreciate them. Remember many of the volunteers work full-time jobs and take the time on their day off to make this effort.
