Small town gossip
To the editor:
I have been a Pine Island resident my entire life. Rumors and gossip have always been apart of that life. It’s a small town, people love to talk. I’ve never been one to pay much mind to these things. However recently I have heard things that I feel need addressing. It’s not the rumors themselves, but whom they are coming from. As a religious leader and confidant, you should be ashamed. People come to you for your guidance and you repay them by telling everyone else their business. Whether it’s a family members illness, the financial hardships of others or simply the ‘happenings’ of a place you have been spreading it around town like a disease. I don’t know if people ask you for the information or if you’re just handing it out. Whatever the case you need to evaluate your position in this community and decided if you’re a religious leader or just a gossip queen.
