Not in competition with other groups or businesses

To the editor:

I was at the American Legion on Friday evening 8-21, dancing to the music of the Burnt Out Band thinking how much fun we were having.

I figured out that the Legion gets about 100 people a day walking through our doors “off season” and about 200 people a day “in season.” That is about 55,000 people a year walk through our doors every year! Hopefully they are all coming in for good food, reasonable drinks and a dedication to assisting veterans, their families, active duty service men and women and the local people of Pine Island.

We are not in competition with any other organization on beautiful Pine Island. On the contrary! We look to support everyone’s charitable endeavors and look forward to joining every organization at their functions to support their efforts.

We are also not in competition to Pine Island’s local businesses. We truly encourage people that make a trip to our Post to sample the fine foods of our local restaurants, fun bar and grills and sample the great fishing of Pine Island with our professional fishing guides, knowledgeable tackle shops, helpful marinas, hardware stores, you get the picture. We have been very successful the past few years. We hope that our success helps everyone else on Pine Island!

I encourage anyone and everyone to contact me to see what the American Legion can do to support you, your charitable endeavors and how we can help your business!

My personal phone number is 239-282-2200. I am available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Legion’s phone number is 283-4434. They are available almost 18 hours a day. Please contact us and join us or the Auxiliary or the Sons of the Legion or Legion Riders so that we can do more to help those who need us now!
