Why I display my flag the way I do
To the editor:
I want to thank the people that have noticed I am displaying my flag in the distress mode and have stopped to inquire why I feel that it is appropriate. We live in a time when the government is out of control on spending, out of control on government intrusion into private lives, out of control with private industry, and out of control with taxes. We have an employment problem with high unemployment, moving jobs out of the U.S., and making excuses why this is acceptable. We have businesses that are willing to go bankrupt to keep from paying pensions to those that have given their entire lives to those companies and the government did nothing to protect the workers while allowing large pay outs for the executives. We have more people losing their homes daily through no fault of their making. We have returning heroes that run into a bureaucracy that prevent them from the care they were promised and so richly deserve. We have millions in our country illegally and a government unwilling to address this problem. Washington is broke, both political parties have contributed to this problem yet they want us to believe they will fix it if we give them one more chance. I believe this country is in distress and we are close to losing our liberty and our heritage.
