Old painted poles need
a new home
To the editor:
As I ride down the road, I find the many painted utility poles very attractive. For some time now the same recurring thought takes shape in my head and asks the question, “what if someone wold provide a patch of ground?” “What if that ground was studded with old weathered poles?” And could we find artists enough to artfully arrange these poles into a pattern and find enough artists and materials to paint them?
Could there be a way to get the Calusa Land Trust involved and develop a fund raising program that would provide conservation funds as well as compensation for the artists time and materials?
If you can plunk a plank, could you not plop a pole? Is there someone out there that likes this idea and will run with it, this old man is tired.
