The Lee County Patriots
To the editor:
Last week’s Letters to the Editor included one from Wayne Holbrook who was interested in forming a Tea Party group on the Island.
The Lee County Patriots is a grassroots group already in existence here on Pine Island, and is akin to a Tea Party group. We choose not to be affiliated with any particular organization so we can steer our own course, as is appropriate for our independent island. But we join with Tea Party groups, Republican clubs and 912 groups in Lee County to make a difference.
Our group aims to take action to make our voices heard on proposed legislation in Congress, to support conservative candidates locally, statewide and nationwide to change the balance in D.C., and to educate and inform the public about policies being considered which might impact our freedoms, our prosperity and our children and grandchildren’s futures.
We meet monthly and invite all concerned citizens to join us. These are troubling times in our country. We believe we can make a difference if we work together! Our next meeting is Feb. 12 at 6:15 at the Fishers of Men Lutheran Church, 10360 Stringfellow Road. Our meetings are informative and lively and include refreshments!
We also want to invite islanders to come to our Yard Sale on Sat, Feb 13 at the end of Fifth Avenue in Saint James City. Donations of nice, saleable goods would be appreciated. Please email if you would like to donate.
God Bless America!
