Those looking for hometown dentistry that uses the latest technology have discovered such a place at Pine Island Center. In keeping with its goal to provide personal service while maintaining the highest professional standards, Riverdale Dental recently recruited Dr. William Chais, who brings with him years of experience and expertise.

“At my previous practice it was all hustle and bustle, and I am really appreciating the laid-back, relaxed atmosphere here on Pine Island. If I had my way I would live in St. James City and never leave the island,” said Dr. Chais. “The office atmosphere is much like the island. We don’t overbook our patients and take our time to answer any questions they may have in an unrushed way.”

Dr. Chais most recently worked on Florida’s east coast before relocating to Lee County. He was born in Canada and raised in New York. He discovered the pleasant conditions Florida had to offer when he was educated at Emery College in 1970 and that is when he decided to remain in the state. Dr. Chais specializes in gum problems and is an ortho-periodontist. At this time, he is at the Pine Island office part-time but is hopeful that will change.

“We are looking at expansion and I would love to be here on the island more,” said Dr. Chais. “I really enjoy what I do and would work every day if I could.”

While the office and waiting area may have the appearance of an “old time” facility, Dr. Chais assures that he and his fellow staff members are highly trained and use nothing but state of the art equipment.

“At this location we are able to cover all of a patients needs whether it be a tooth extraction or implants,” he said. “We also have the newest digital X-ray equipment which is the safest in use today as the radiation output is extremely minimal.”

The Pine Island practice was established by Dr. Markus Sherry many years ago and eventually grew to include several other offices in Lee County. While Dr. Sherry now is semi-retired, his influence can still be felt at the Pine Island office.

“Even though Dr. Sherry doesn’t see patients any nore, he visits all of the offices, including Pine Island, every day to mentor his staff, to lend advise and to observe,” said Dr. Chais. “It is a real pleasure to work with him and for him. He makes us feel not just like a team, but a family. I am proud to help carry on the legacy Dr. Sherry has established.”

At the Pine Island office of Riverdale Dental, Dr. Chais is partnered with Dr. Nirva Patel as well as several hygienists and dental assistants. Long-time employee, Lori Baske felt that Dr. Chais was a good addition to the staff.

“Dr. Chais has been very well received by the community. He is great with the patients and they are very happy with his service,” said Baske. “He is very attentive and sincere and takes the time to explain what he is doing and they really seem to appreciate that.”

Riverdale Dental has offices in Fort Myers, Labelle, Lehigh Acres and North Fort Myers in addition to the Pine Island office.

The Pine Island Riverdale Dental office is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
