We can’t trust the government with our health care

To the Editor:

In my opinion, we are witnessing Chicago-style politics in action. First they make all kinds of wild proposals, then, when they are not well received, blame the opposition and take up the more popular version, normally the oppositions. Should that fail, they intimidate; should that fail, it’s retaliation. Recently there was the Flag Internet program, flagwhitehouse.com currently closed, brought to light by Major Garrett of FOX News, where the White House requested that we spy on each other and report any false information regarding health reform to them so they could correct the falsehoods. Really, how many of us have read the bill or even understood it, if we had. In reality, what they were saying is report the opposition and we’ll send out our goons to intimidate them into submission or we’ll retaliate against them. When questioned and through national exposure the White House closed the site and reported the closure to FOX, etc. In reality, they closed on e-mail site and reopened with another without skipping a beat.

In reference to Health Care Reform, to the best of my knowledge, only one bill has passed the House thus far. It is 1,018 pages of uninspiring reading, however, if you think that all of the opposition to this bill is misinformation, you must read it for yourself. It may be downloaded from economicpolicyjournal.com. It is redundant and you must pay attention to detail as it is terrible reading. Pages 425 through page 430 are most interesting and will quell the argument as to life ending, etc. If it does not prevail, then why is it discussed in so many different sections of the bill.

Socialized medicine does not work. Canada’s socialized medical program is broke and all others are on the verge. Remember, the government wants to do to our medical program what they’ve done for Amtrack, Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid and the U.S. Postal Service, all run by the government and all are broke, and most recently, Cash for Clunkers, whereas auto dealers are desperate for cash and not being reimbursed by this administration. With a record like theirs, certainly we can trust the government with administrating our health care.
