No new businesses needed
To the Editor:
I saw on the news the other night a lady (Ido not remember her name) was interviewed and was talking about wanting other business on the island. In my opinion, this was irresponsible and ignorant. She said there was plenty of land to develop and that she was not advocating a big businesses like Walmart and big condos but small businesses. She also said it is a half-hour drive off the island to get to any businesses.
Wel,l first of all, the permanent residents here do not mind it. Second of all, if she is wanting itsy bitsy businesses to come to the island, what does she think the itsy bigsy businesses will want? I have two things to say to her — no more development of businesses because we do not want to turn this into a Fort Myers Beach, Marco or Sanibel. We like our laid back living and want to keep it that way.
The second thing I have to say to her is that if you live on the island and do not like the drive off, then that can be solved — move the heck off and go get into the crazy live in Cape Coral/Fort Myers
