More on Flag Day
To the Editor:
The Pine Island American Legion Post 136 had a very busy Flag Day. The Honor Guard and Color Guard were invited to participate in the Flag Day ceremony at the Pine Island Elks Lodge. At noon, Captain of the Guard Al Orange called his detail to attention. It included Honor Guard Dick Thomas and Pete Trazzera and flag bearers Gary Avery and Gene Gargano. This was the first time we participated in their ceremony and it was very informative and patriotic. Hope to be invited back next year and would like to see more people attend, it will be worth your time.
Later in the evening at the American Legion Post 136, there was another ceremony which also included the Honor Guard and the Color Guard. The ceremony concluded with the burning of the flags no longer in condition to be flown. It was a long day, but very satisfying for all who participated.
