It is time to start beating the drum
To the Editor:
If you and I were in debt, we would have to slow down or stop spending money, especially if we had very little money coming in. Our county government and state government are having to start cutting budgets and laying off loyal workers. Less money coming in means they have less money to go out.
The federal government does not seem to understand this economic concept or just chooses to ignore it. They are spending money like there’s “no tomorrow” and in their case there may not be. By the time the money they are spending has to be paid back, most of them will no longer be in office. They are spending your, your children’s and future generations’ money. The federal government has no money. They are spending what they can borrow or get from you and in taxes. They should not be giving “stimulus money” to states that have their own budgets and tax bases. Spending has never solved any financial problems and never will.
The federal government has not only not created more jobs, they have actually increased unemployment and “nationalized” some of our largest banks and manufacturers. Are you better off than you were 100 days ago? Do you have more faith in the economy getting better or do you think it will only get worse? It is time to stop spending our money.
Please call or e-mail Sen. Mel Martinez (866-630-7106), Sen. Bill Nelson (888-671-4091) or Rep. Connie Mack (239-573-5837) and tell them you want them to represent you and that you want them to go to their office in Washington, D.C., and tell them to stop spending your money now!
One more thing. When the 2010 elections take place, vote out any incumbent that has not worked to stop spending your dollars that they do not have.
