Garden Gala was biggest success to date
To the Editor:
The Pine Island Garden Club 9th Annual Gala was a huge success. It was the biggest Garden Gala we’ve had to date. We saw record-breaking crowds who browsed through the 58 vendor booths selling plants and flowers in a rainbow of colors, craft booths and food booths.
Garden Club President Charlene Sharples and board members Marty Kendall and gala co-chairperson Barb Peckinpaugh presented checks representing the proceeds from last year’s gala to several non-profit organizations, including the Calusa Land Trust, FISH, the Pine Island Food Pantry, Beacon of HOPE and From Our Hearts.
The winners of the Garden Club Gala’s raffle was Peter Backs, who won the wheelbarrow with a garden starter package, Sharon Franklin won the $250 Winn-Dixie gift certificate, Laurie Donaldson won the Tween Waters Inn Captiva Travel Package, Peggy Finley won the hand-painted rain barrel, V. Page won the sunflower painting by Dianna Willman, Donna Charland won the cocktail basket and Mary Ann Stouffer won the necklace and earring set.
Congratulations to all of our winners.
