A grateful goodbye to coach
To the Editor:
Luckily, Pine Island offers our children and community a great opportunity to just get together, be kids and play ball. Having a good time. But a good time comes with an awful lot of dedication, commitment, sacrifice of time, and, of course, the hard work!
A special person who has done just that and so much more is Coach Scott Fishcer (aka: Big Fish). For 17 years he has coached for Pine Island Little League receiving many awards including coach of the year. Having two sons in the league as well, he has spent many days and nights at the field. But, the time has come and he has decided to end coaching and spend more time fishing. He will be a hard one to replace. Not only did he offer his time to coaching, but he was such a great mentor for our children. His patience, humor, and way of communicating with the kids has made lasting, happy, positive memories for them. That is valuable these days.
Thank you coach! You will be missed on the field. We are lucky to have had you for a coach and a friend!
