Holiday Bliss thank you

2 min read

To the Editor:

The Matlacha Civic Association wishes to thank the many volunteers who helped make our celebration such a success. We had 56 children (and several adults) get photos taken with Santa. The kids also enjoyed the pet skunks, the many opportunities to create holiday gift items, the free hot dogs and the entertainment. The adults also enjoyed the day with the many different musical entertainers, free coffee and cookies and the great parade. We know that we’ll miss naming some of you but we appreciate you nonetheless.

A special thanks to:

– The organizing committee: Linaya Yates, chair; Debbie Cundell; Peggy McTeague; Julie Griffith; Gail Barone

– Entertainers: Alice Grouper and Gil’s students, Holly and Pam; Peg Collins with her sidekicks; Guy Galinski; Megan Coite and Rachael Cicoria; Jesse McLean; the Pine Island Choir; The Pine Island Cloggers; The Pine Island Dancers; Scherzando String Quartet.

– Thanks also to all the volunteers who supplied time, effort and supplies: Dave Coates, Al Lane and Ralph’s Raiders; Wachovia Bank; Dave Fairbanks; Tom and Lani Poynter (skunks!); Dave and Barbara Conroy; BJs Wholesale Club; Don Knuth; Bill Russell and the Pine Island Fire Dept.; Matlacha Hookers; Matlacha Mariners; Pine Island Food Pantry; The Olde Fish House Marina; Matlacha Art Galleries; Coastal Homes; The Perfect Cup; Sweetbay; Joe DeBacker, Nina & Sue of Lee County Parks & Rec; Cynthia with The Pampered Pup; Jim Ryan with Mango Tango; children’s art and craft teachers Peggy McTeague (WildChild Gallery); Karen McKee; Anne Harrison; Karen Weeks; Julie Griffith; and Leia Chrissoverges and Marina Radtke. A special thanks goes to Sandy Anderson, the hot dog cart girl.

Through the generosity of the volunteers and donors, the Matlacha Civic Association was able to donate $1,000 to the Pine Island Food Pantry plus the proceeds from the 50-50 raffles.

Thanks again everyone!
