To the editor:

The Matlacha Mariners are pleased to announce that this years Nov. 15 Music Festival was a huge success. People who came from various regions of the country and all across the state were very impressed with this years lineup and how seamlessly everything went during the 9th Annual Southwest Florida Music Festival.

The Mariners wish to express its gratitude to the many volunteers that it takes to make this festival one that people and artists alike want to come back to year after year. Without the overwhelming support of visitors, area residents, local businesses and, yes, even some of our Lee County officials this amazing day of music might have fallen short of Mariner expectations. We’re very happy to say that didn’t happen. With another event behind us we would like to acknowledge the many supporters who helped to make this event so successful. In no special or particular order we would like to thank all of these wonderful people: our host Pine Island RV Resort and Encore Properties; the Pine Island Elementary School Choir, under the direction of music teacher Gwendolyn Garrison; the Cape Coral High School JROTC color guard, under the direction of 1st. Sgt. Clarence Finnee; Pine Island Artist Mel Meo, for her unwavering support over the last four years; First Note Music of Cape Coral; the Matlacha Hookers, one of the best supporters anyone could ask for; the support of our Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce; the Pine Island Community Church’s Youth Group, under the direction of Pastor Heidi Grueser as well as other congregation members; a big thank you to Nancy Goodwin and everyone else who worked so hard to feed and make our VIP area nice for the musicians; Marianne and everyone at the Pine Island Eagle; Budweiser and Suncoast Beverage; Honc Demolition Septic and Grading; Rainbow Records; Classic Rock 94.5 FM; Oldies 92.5 FM; The News-Press; Tedd Lincoln and The Pine Island Real-Estate Guide; Gulf Coast Times Magazine, Happenings Magazine; Ft. Myers Magazine; Amy Souder of the News-Press; Terry Schlegel for the awesome photographs; a big thanks to Mike for letting us use his tractor for the parking shuttle; Tommy at the Buckingham Blues Bar for his support prior to the event; Dan Cutting and everyone at North Trail RV in Fort Myers; Traders Hitching Post for helping with advance ticket sales; the Waterfront Restaurant and Marina; Bert’s Bar and Grill along with Bubba’s Roadhouse and Saloon; Moretti’s Seafood Restaurant; Iron Horse Grill; Big Papa’s Concessions; Jeff at Gulf Seafood; Shamrock Johnson; Lee County Sherriff’s Deputy Neil Hamilton and Deputy Steve Wright; and our many art and craft vendors, as well as all of you who attended this year’s music festival.

We would also like to give a Special Thanks to all the local businesses who supported this years annual music guide publication, without their support each year this event might not be possible. If for some reason we forgot to mention your support during this amazing event we apologize and would like to thank you now for your valuable contribution in this worthwhile cause. Throughout the rest of 2008 and the following year if you’re wondering what the Matlacha Mariners are up to just keep your eye on the Pine Island Eagle or visit us at MatlachaMariners.org, with a final thanks we hope to see everyone at the next Matlacha Mariner event.
