Elsie Ruth Raines

Elsie Ruth Raines was born in Pomeroy, Ohio on February 10, 1930. The angels came and took her home February 23, 2022. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Floyd Clyde Raines.

Elsie grew up in Southern Ohio where she loved to Square Dance. She married Clyde and moved to Elsmere, Kentucky where they had a Welding Business. She and Clyde were active members of the Beaver Lick Baptist Church in Kentucky. She became a successful realtor in Northern Kentucky working with Coldwell Banker. She enjoyed traveling to England, Switzerland, France and Italy, and going out to the Western United States. She retired to Florida and lived in Marina Town in North Fort Myers. She enjoyed birds and rescued many. She loved her little chicken that she raised from an egg. She wrote a children’s book about the little chicken. She enjoyed gardening, shelling and researching genealogy. In doing her genealogical research she discovered her family fled Strasburg, France from becoming in-servitude to Napoleon’s armies. She learned her family in Southern Ohio were key to the Underground Railroad assisting many who had the courage to cross the Ohio River to freedom.

Her father Raymond Krider and mother Freda Koeing Krider preceded her in death.

All but one of her siblings, her sister, Minnie Block living in The Villages, Florida have passed before her. Therman Krider, Russell Krider, Marvin Krider, Johnny Krider, Martha, and Alta Krider.

She leaves two daughters Karen Autry married to David Autry living in Bokeelia, Florida and Penny Ratliff married to Bill Ratliff living in Dunnellon, Florida. Her grandchildren are Tricia Baker (Dr. N. Wade Baker), Anthony Ratliff, Todd Ratliff, and James Ratliff.

She has numerous great grandchildren, Christian and Jodi Baker, Savannah and Alex Jolly, Kayla, Erin and Candice. She also has two great, great grandchildren, Harlow Baker and Raylan Ratliff.

She will buried at Brown Cemetery, Morehead, Kentucky beside her husband.
