Malte J Sallstrom

Malte J. Sallstrom, 83, of St. James City, FL, and formerly of East Hartford, CT, went to Heaven on October 1, 2021 after a courageous 11-year battle with Cortico Basal Degeneration.
He was born on January 30, 1938 in Hartford, CT to Malte and Isabella Moir Sallstrom. He retired from the State of Connecticut Transportation Department after 37 years of service, where he was affectionately known by his coworkers as “Whitey”. Malte was a member of the Masonic Order and a Veteran of the United States Army where he served in Germany. He was an avid traveler and enjoyed many cruises.
Malte is preceded in death by his son, David Sallstrom, and his parents, Malte and Isabella Sallstrom. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Christine S. Sallstrom; children, Carl E. Sallstrom (wife, Linda) of CT, Donald R. Jackman, and Michael A. Jackman and Ronald P. Jackman (wife, Lori) both of SC; grandchildren, Heather Sanchez, Erica Sallstrom, Amber Sallstrom, Inmaculada Jackman, Justine Jackman, and Jacob Jackman; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Sallstrom (wife, Janet) of MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, November 5, 2021 at 1pm at Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church, 12175 Stringfellow Rd. Bokeelia with interment following mass at Coral Ridge Funeral Home and Cemetery 1630 SW Pine Island Rd, Cape Coral.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Malte’s honor to Kiwanis of St. James City, Hope Hospice, FISH of Pine Island, or Food Pantry of Pine Island.
