James Arthur Brewer

James Arthur Brewer, age 94, of Columbus and Westerville, Ohio; formerly of St. James City, Florida passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021
Jim was born in Chauncey, Ohio on November, 26, 1926. He dedicated his life to his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Naomi (Seyler) Brewer; children and their spouses: Mark (Rita) Brewer, Ruth (Michael) Williams, and Neil (Nancy) Brewer; son-in-law, Michael Daugherty, Ten Grandchildren and Five Great-Grandchildren. He is also survived by brother and sister in law, John D. and Kathleen Brewer, and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, June Daugherty, his parents: Arthur Q. and Lucy (Law) Brewer, sister and brother-in-law, L. Jean and Raymond McLane, brother and sister-in-law, Robert A. and Betty (Teddy) Brewer.
Jim was a WW2 veteran of the U.S. Army, and proudly served as an instructor at The Infantry School in Fort Benning, Georgia. He was the owner of Wege Marble and Tile Company, Columbus, Ohio. Following his retirement to St. James City, Florida, Jim was President of the St. James Civic Association, and assisted his loving wife Naomi with her many civic activities. He was a long time member of the Pine Island United Methodist Church and a 55+ year member of the Masonic Order, serving as Worshipful Master of David N. Kinsman Lodge and a 50+ year member of the 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, in Columbus, Ohio.
Jim was known for his wit, sense of humor and “kidding” around. He was a devoted “Buckeye” fan and loved playing “Rummikub” with family. Many will remember for his devotion to the birds of Pine Island, especially all the “Georges”. Jim enjoyed playing golf with family and friends and following the basketball playing and coaching career of daughter, June Daugherty.
A private service/interment will be at Blendon Central Cemetery, Westerville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife. https://ccfriendsofwildlife.org/donate/donate
