Virginia Emily Williamson

Virginia Emily Williamson, 93, of St. James City passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015. Born October 13, 1922 in Johnson City, NY to Nellie Ferguson, Virginia met her future husband Deloyd on a trip south to visit relatives during World War II. Married 39 years after a whirlwind courtship of 3 days, Virginia and Deloyd settled in Lee County in 1965. They spent many happy years on Pine Island where they, along with their 5 sons, owned and operated Williamson & Sons Marine Construction. Virginia, known to her friends as “Georgie” enjoyed reading, movies and scrabble with her family, but her real passion was traveling. During their life together, they visited all 48 states, Canada and Mexico. After his passing, Georgie with her granddaughters toured Europe, Alaska and Hawaii. Virginia is survived by her loving family which includes 4 sons Deloyd E. (Johnny) of Foley, AL, Joseph H. of Cape Coral, Raymond F. of St. James City, George T. of Matlacha; 2 daughters Mary D. Wengatz of Bokeelia and Margaret N. Henry of Cape Coral; 24 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Deloyd E., Sr. (1984), son James E. (1986), grandchildren Johnny (2004) and Lisa (2007). Services were held at Coral Ridge Funeral Home and Cemetery.
