John Richard Pestel
John Richard Pestel, 62, of Bokeelia, passed away at home Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., July 7, 1951, he was the son of Richard and Catherine Pestel. He had two sisters, Catherine and Colleen.
He was a sergeant in the Air Force and served his country in the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal and an Air Force Good Conduct Medal.
He is survived by his two sons, Adam and Sean Pestel, and grandchildren, Sammy and Taylor Pestel. He is also survived by his two nephews, Dominic Pierce and Michael Pestel and their families.
A memorial service was held at the Pine Island Community Church on Sunday, Feb. 16.
