Ruth G. Ward, 75, of St James City passed away from lung cancer Dec. 28, 2012. She was born in Detroit March 12, 1937, the only child of Ralph H. and Ethel A. (Ainsworth) Cameron.

She and her husband, Dennis Ward, met in Ann Arbor Mich., where they were both college students and married June 11, 1955, in Brighton, Mich. She was an active member of the St James City Civic Association and played bridge there several times per week. In the past she had donated time to the Pine Island Library and F.I.S.H. While her children were growing, she was active in PTA, Women’s Club and was a Brownie Leader.

She is survived by her loving husband and their five children, Kathryn Ward of Schaumburg, Ill., Cynthia Ward (Robert Steff) of Lancaster, Mass., Dr. Carol Ward (Walter Brady) of Vienna, Va., Kristina Ward (Paul Nelson) of Rapid City, S.D., and Bruce Ward (Kimberly Ward) of South Barrington, Ill.; as well as 10 grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Feb. 16, at the St .James City Civic Association Building from 1-4 p.m. A joint celebration with her sister-in-law, Mary MacDonald, will be held Saturday, July 6, at the Viking Hall, Muskegon, Mich., in the afternoon.
