George A. Cannon

George A. Cannon, 84, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, in Cape Coral. He was born and raised as a Catholic in Philadelphia, the son of Ethel Herion and George Cannon. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II. In 1967, he founded G. Cannon Roofing and Siding in Norristown, Pa., still a thriving family business.

In 1982, he moved to Safety Harbor, Fla., with his wife, Carmella, where he loved to fish and they shared a passion for golf at Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf Club in Clearwater.

He is predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Carmella (Rossi) Cannon, and two brothers, Jack and Don.

He leaves behind his children, Robert (Patricia) Cannon, Kathleen (Earl) Scott, and Cheryl Kuhles; brother, Jerry Cannon; sister, Sue (Cannon) Curtain; grandchildren, Aimee, Kimberly, Luis, Earl Jr., Brian and Rachel; and great-grandchildren, Mikaila, Cooper, Trevor Jr. and Leaf.

He was loved and will be missed by many.

A memorial mass was held Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Hospice in memory of George A. Cannon and sent to 2430 Diplomat Parkway East, Cape Coral, FL 33909.
