Ida L. Jensen

Ida L. Jensen, formerly of Elgin, IL, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Oct.. 13, 2011 in Cape Coral, FLat the age of 97. Ida was born on Dec. 11, 1913 in Holzhausen, Germany, and she came to the United States with her parents William and Sophie Delkus and her older sister Sophie in 1924.

She was married to Bernard (Ben) Jensen on Nov. 13, 1932 and raised her family in Elgin, Illinois. Ida was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Elgin, and she was a professional seamstress for much of her life.

Following retirement, Ida and her husband moved to Cape Coral, Florida in 1981, where they enjoyed their home on the water. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge #2596, both in Cape Coral.

Ida was preceded in death by her parents and sister, and her husband Ben (who died in 1992) and her son-in-law John L. Fritz (who died in 2000). She is survived by her daughter, Vi Fritz of Cape Coral, Fl.; and sons David (Sally) Jensen of Lake Mills, WI, and Bernard (Beth) Jensen of New Smyrna Beach, Fl. In addition, Ida has left a legacy of five grandchildren: Linda (Manny) Fritz-Salazar, John (Melba) Fritz, Scott (Hepsy) Jensen, Betsy (Mike) Jensen-Miller, and Kristen Jensen; and 4 great grandchildren.

Ida was an extremely selfless and giving person, and she will be missed greatly by her family. She taught all of us how to love.

Services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Christ Lutheran Church, 2911 Del Prado Blvd., Cape Coral, with viewing to begin at 10:30 a.m., the Memorial Service beginning at 11 a.m., and followed by a reception in the church hall.
