Marge S. LaFera, 58, of St. James City, passed away quietly on Monday, June 20, 2011 while under the care of Hope Hospice. Born on Sept. 28, 1952, in Passaic, NJ to Morris and Rita Malkin, Marge was raised and schooled in Clifton, NJ. Marge married John LaFera on March 28, 1994 and the couple moved to Pine Island in 1995.

Marge quickly became a very recognizable figure in her community and with a smile that could light up a room, was a friend to all who knew her. Marge was one of the founding members of the Matlacha Hookers and remained actively involved with several committees, as a past secretary and board member until her illness. She also was instrumental and played an important role in the Pine Island Elementary School Fishing Tournament and Derby each year as the coordinator of the children’s fishing derby.

Marge loved to create jewelry, her friends and family, gardening and especially, her husband Johnny. She will be dearly missed by her sister Hookers and former customers as well as family, friends and those whose lives she touched along the way.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Parkway East, Cape Coral 33909 in Marge’s name. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
