Adeline Wild

Adeline Wild, 88, of Bokeelia and Houghton Lake, MI, died Feb. 26, 2001 at the home of her daughter in Lennon, MI, with her family by her side.
The funeral was held at 1 p.m. on March 1, at Houghton Lake United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery.
Born on Aug. 8, 1922 in Flint, MI, the daughter of the late Michael and Veronica (Dciede) Zydonik. She was married in Flint on Oct. 4, 1941 to Frank Wild and he preceded her in death in 1993. The couple moved to Houghton Lake from Flint over 55 years ago. They owned and operated Wilds Plumbing and Heating. She was the sole clerk, bookkeeper, fix-it person and still took care of three small children at the store, while Frank made plumbing and heating calls. They moved their business to the Village of Houghton Lake where it became known as Wilds Western Auto and Hardware. The store was later sold to her daughter, Judy, and her husband Dick Carman and was renamed Wild True Value. After selling the store, the couple built a house in Bokeelia, where they spent their winters. She worked at the True Value on Pine Island, in the winter, for more than 15 years and Wild’s True Value in the summer until she was in her 80s. She was a very trusted and loving employee and the customers always looked for her when they had a problem. Her greatest interests in life were her business, family and the Lord. She was a member of the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church, A past president of the Houghton-Higgins Does, a member of the Eastern Stars and had been active for many years as a volunteer with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
Adeline is survived by her two daughters, Judy Carman of Houghton Lake and Veronica Lee Dale of Lennon; one sone, Frank (Rosemary) WIld of Bokeelia and Houghton Lake; five grandchildren, Scott (Rose) Carman of Houghton Lake, Joel (Terry) Carman of Holt, Michael (Jack) Candiano of Cape Coral, Tia Marie (Ian Hill) Dale of Davison and four great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Jacqulyn Candiano, Marissa and Joseph Carman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Veronica; her husband Frank and grandson Frank Wild Jr.
Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel, handled the arrangements.
