Thomas Lynn Shirkey
Thomas Lynn Shirkey, 68 of Bokeelia, Florida passed away on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida.
He was born in Columbus, Ohio on Feb. 27, 1942 to Raymond and Betty Shirkey. Tom was a retired helicopter pilot who served in the U.S. Army as a Chief Warrant Officer including a tour in Vietnam where he received an Air Medal with 23 Oak Leaf Clusters. His career in aviation included working as an Air Traffic Controller, EMS Helicopter Pilot, Fire Suppression, and Long Lining. Tom loved fishing, hunting, camping and photography.
Tom is survived by his loving family including his wife, Grover Rose Shirkey; son, Alan (Ana); daughters, Kim (Kyle), and Kelly; brother, Jim (Patty); grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew, Braden, and Cayla.
A celebration of his life will be at 11 am on Saturday, Jan. 15, at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 SW Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his honor to Hope Hospice of Cape Coral.
