William C. First
William C. First, 90, of Bokeelia, died on Nov. 6, 2010. He was born in Johnston, Pa and was a retired research and development engineer. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Phillipines. In later years, he worked around his own workshop on his own inventions, meanwhile, encouraging development of youthful inventors at the Edison Inventors Club at the Edison Museum in Fort Myers.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; son, William Jr.; daughter, Bonnie Wainwright; step-daughter, Wendy Mattson; brothers, John, Robert, Richard and Donald; nephews, Greg and Gary.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 12 p.m. at the VFW Post 4353, 8150 Stringfellow Road, St. James City.
He will be greatly missed.
