James “Big Man, Foot” Hart, 53, of Bokeelia, passed away suddenly Monday, Oct. 25, 2010. He was born Jan. 23, 1957 in New York City, son of the late George LeRoy and Elizabeth Hart.

Jimmy married the love of his life, Rita Hart, on Dec. 12, 1975.

Jimmy moved to Pine Island in 1963 with his family and became a commercial fisherman and shrimper. He was devoted to his family and friends. He was an active member of the Organized Fishermen of Florida for many years.

Jimmy was an umpire for the Pine Island Little League for over nine years and no one augured with him he was just to big. Even when he was not an umpire he loved to go watch the children play baseball.

Jimmy never met a stranger, he was very a friendly, helping person. Even with all the physical difficulties he has gone through in the last several years, he always had a smile of his face and had a positive attitude.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Rita, and son, James “Bubba” Hart, both of Bokeelia; brother, George (Shirley) Hart Jr. of Punta Gorda; sister, Carol Reinseles, of Massachusetts; father-in-law, Franklin (Debbie) Futch, of Pine Island; niece, Karen Lanzendorfer; and nephews, George Hart Jr. and Phillip Hart.

He leaves behind many friends that will miss him dearly.

A memorial service for Jimmy will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Pine Island Baptist Church, at 5363 Ave. D. There will be a dinner following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Pine Island Baptist Church. Friends may sign the guest book for the family at: www.horizonfunerals.com.
