Michael VanCamp Osmer

Michael VanCamp Osmer, born on Sept. 28, 1945, in Oberlin, Ohio, passed on July 13, 2010 at Bay Pines VA Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Michael is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 23 years, Dorothy Osmer.

Michael also is survived by a son, Gilbert Alfred Osmer, his wife Katrina and two children, Emily and Craig; a daughter, Nicole Lynn (Osmer) Tichota, her husband, Dan and two children, Aiden and Sydney; a daughter, Kristen Myiei Finley and her husband, Don, a son, Matthew Karl Stark and a sister Judy (Osmer) Yakunovich.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Osmer; mother, Alma Osmer and sister Vicki (Osmer) Overstreet.

Michael was a proud volunteer for the United States Army from Feb. 10. 1967 to Feb. 9, 1973. Michael fought for his country and served a tour in the Vietman War. He was a true patriot and American hero.

Michael was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion and VFW Post 4353 where he served as post commander from 1999-2000.

Michael was always willing to serve; he was a giving person, a loving husband, father and friend and will be greatly missed. Rest in peace.

A memorial service was held at the VFW Post 4353 on Sunday, July 18, 2010.
