Memorial service for William G. Stansell
William G. Stansell, 81, of St. James City, passed away Dec. 26, 2009. Bill was born in Dalton, Georgia, to William and Ora Stansell on Aug. 30, 1928. He was laid to rest in Dalton on Dec. 31, 2009, with family and friends in attendance. He graduated from Dalton High School in 1946. He then served an IBEW Electrical Apprenticeship in Augusta, Georgia. He married his hometown sweetheart, Barbara and he and his family subsequently moved to Irwin, Penn., where he worked as an electrician for 28 years. Bill was a member of the Irwin Shidle Masonic Lodge #601. He then moved to Augusta and worked six years before retiring to Pine Island in 1990. He and Barbara bought property on Pine Island in 1959.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara J. Stansell; son, William G. Stansell; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Raymond Seise and son and daughter-in-law, Gerry and Judith Stansell. He also is survived by six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a sister, Audra Smith of Dalton; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life at the Pine Island United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 27, at 2 p.m. This will be for family and friends to remember Bill and how he touched their lives.
Everyone who knew him is welcome to attend.
