Julius Morreal

Julius Morreal, 79, of Cape Coral passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at his home while under the loving care of Hope Hospice and surrounded by his family. He was born on April 10, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y., a child of Marco and Theresa (Melluzzo) Morreale.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a 22-year member of the N.Y.P.D., retiring as a police sergeant. A resident of Cape Coral for the past 10 years, he previously lived on Pine Island for 9 years.

He was a playwright who wrote six different plays, a reporter for the Pine Island Eagle Newspaper and a freelance writer who wrote numerous articles for Fort Myers Magazine.

He is survived by his bride of 49 years, Jeanette (Maisonville). He was a devoted father to his son, Mark; daughter-in-law, Pam; daughter, Mary Leigh Morreal Zizzamia; and son-in-law, Vito. He was a caring grandfather to Samantha, Michael and Tommy, all of Cape Coral. He has a sister, Lillian of Staten Island, N.Y.

A private celebration of life will be held by the family.
