Barry J. Davidson

Barry J. Davidson, 62, of St. James City passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009. He was born on Oct. 1, 1946, in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada. He served in Vietnam for 18 months and then returned home to work as an engineer for CN Railroad until his retirement when he was 48.

He was a life member of the VFW Post 4353, member of the Pine Island Moose Lodge and the Middle Bass Island Yatch Club. He was a four-time winner of the International Sailing Trophy on Lake Erie. At the age of 14, he was the youngest lead violinist for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.

He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Jill Davidson of St. James City; sons, Bruce (Betina) Davidson and and Stephen (Laurie) Davidson; step-sons, Thomas Rakijasic and Daniel (Andrea) Rakijasic; and 12 grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Services was held Tuesday, June 9, at the V.F.W. Post No. 4353, 8150 Stringfellow Road, St. James City.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Parkway, Cape Coral, FL 33909.
