Stephen P. Ober

Stephen P. Ober of St. Petersburg and Pine Island and former Haverhill, Mass., resident, died unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Thursday, March 30, 2009, near his home in St. Petersburg.

He is a 1983 graduate of Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School, Haverhill, and a 1993 graduate of St. Petersburg College, St. Petersburg. He is a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving proudly in Germany and Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm.

He is a 12-year veteran of St. Petersburg Police Department, having won awards for life saving, officer of the month and officer of the year. He was a licensed real estate agent and owner of Tropical Oasis Landscaping.

He loved to fish and drive offshore in the Gulf of Mexico and in the Florida Keys.

He was the youngest son of Helen and Leon Ober of Pine Island; brother of Robert Ober of Indianlantic, Fla., and Dr. Daniel Ober of Bever Falls, Pa.; and uncle to Daniel’s two sons, Nathan and Matthew.
