Jerry Chris Johnson
Jerry Johnson, 77, of Pine Island Cove, formerly of Goshen and Syracuse, IN, died peacefully Saturday, at 9:40 p.m. at Cape Coral Hospital in Cape Coral.
He was born Aug. 21, 1931 in Goshen, IN, to Harold “Cap” and Mabel (Holtzinger) Johnson. He was a loving husband to Lucille, father and brother to daughters, Debra (Roger) Snyder; Goshen and Julie (Max) Schut of South Bend and two sons, Jerry Chris (Jo Ann) Johnson of Warsaw and Eric (Hilda) Johnson of Goshen, four grandchildren, Sarah (Ryan) Elliott of Goshen; Holly (Juston) Leatherman of Goshen; Ashley (Michael) Mettham of Pierceton and Michael Johnson of Goshen and Maddie Leatherman and his 6 step-children, 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his brother, Harold “June” Johnson, 96 years young of Bloomington and niece Peggy (John) Woodcock of Bloomington.
Jerry graduated from Goshen High School in 1949 and served in the military. HIs family and friends were most dear to him and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He was a member of the American Legion.
After cremation, a memorial service will be held at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church on Pine Island.
A memorial service will be held later this spring in Goshen, Indiana with interment in Violet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Hospital or the Diabetes Foundation.
