Cape Coral man passenger in car that struck and killed a pedestrian Saturday
A Cape Coral man was riding in a car that struck and killed a pedestrian over the weekend.
Adam Philip Torocco, 18, of Fort Myers, was driving a Dodge Charger south on U.S. 41 in the center lane on Saturday. Kurt Alexander Roach, 20, of the Cape, was a passenger in the vehicle.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Torocco was approaching Sanibel Boulevard at 1:14 a.m. when Andrew Haas, 24, of Estero, attempted to cross U.S. 41 on foot and was struck by the front of the Dodge. Following the impact, the car was moved onto the south shoulder of San Carlos Boulevard.
Haas sustained fatal injuries in the crash and came to a final rest in the inside lane of U.S. 41.
The FHP reported that neither Torocco nor Roach sustained any injuries.
Results are pending on whether Haas was under the influence at the time.
According to the FHP, the accident is under investigation.
