Weavers of Char-Lee to host ROC Day event Saturday at Cape Coral Public Library

1 min read

Residents and visitors are invited to “ROC Your Day” at the 13th annual ROC Day to be held at the Cape Coral-Lee County Public Library Saturday, Jan. 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., sponsored by the Weavers of Char-Lee and the Cape Coral-Lee County Public Library.

In the Middle Ages, ROC Day, also known as “Distaff Day,” was a folk holiday marking the end of Christmas festivities when women were to resume their important work at the spinning wheel. A “distaff” is a stick or spindle used to hold loose fiber to spin into yarn or thread.

Come join the Weavers of Char-Lee as they demonstrate their love of spinning and weaving and try a hands-on experience.

There is no admission fee and the ROC Day activities are open to the public.

The Cape Coral Lee County Public Library is at 921 S.W. 39th Terrace, off Mohawk Parkway. Contact the library at 239-533-4500.
