CCPD: Results of holiday traffic saturation efforts

Over the holiday weekend, the Cape Coral Police Department conducted another high-visibility enforcement DUI operation.

The operation was a saturation patrol conducted citywide from 7 p.m., Friday, to 3 a.m., Saturday, according to officials. Officers were focused on identifying and taking impaired drivers off the road.

A large amount of taxi and UBER usage was noted during the operation, as well as a large volume of vehicles left in the parking lots of the bars.

The results of the operation included:

* Total traffic stops: 17

* Warnings: 8

* Speed citations: 7

* Seat belt citations: 0

* Moving citations: 1

* Non-moving citations: 1

* Open container (driver): 0

* Open container (passenger): 0

* .02 violations: 0

* Criminal citations: 1

* Total citations: 10

* DUI arrests: 1

* Motorcycle DUI arrests: 0

* Other arrests: 1

* Total arrests: 2

The enforcement was conducted with the help of a grant awarded from the Florida Department of Transportation in the later part of 2015.
