An Orlando man is being held in the DeSoto County Jail on multiple charges after he was arrested in connection with a Christmas morning theft spree in Estero.

Lee County detectives continue to make their case against Tyrelle J. Doby, who officials believe was one of several, as yet unidentified, individuals who burglarized 83 vehicles, stealing a variety of goods, including Christmas presents and the truck Doby was reportedly driving when spotted by Desoto deputies, officials said in a release issued by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday.

“Lee County Sheriff’s detectives working around the clock since Christmas morning were able to connect the dots with Desoto County Sheriff’s Office who had what detectives believed to be one of the suspects in custody with the stolen Chevy Silverado,” the release states.

Deputies saw the silver truck reported stolen from Estero Bay Chevrolet leaving a parking lot and pursued it but lost sight of the vehicle. It was later located and a canine track led deputies to Doby, who was taken into custody, officials said.

Lee County Sheriff’s detectives then interviewed Doby in Desoto County.

“During the interview it was determined that Doby (along with several other unidentified suspects) stole the Silverado and committed numerous vehicle burglaries in Lee County that left victims angry on Christmas morning,” the release states.

The investigation is continuing and charges in Lee County are pending, officials said.

On Christmas morning, Lee County deputies were called to the Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn and Courtyard at Estero on Corkscrew Road, as well as the Hyatt Regency at Coconut Point in reference to vehicle burglaries. Eighty-three vehicles had been entered and 75 reports were taken for vehicles being vandalized and/or burglarized, officials said,
