Cape Coral man injured in crash Thursday remains in hospital
A Cape Coral man remained hospitalized Tuesday after rear-ending a flatbed truck.
Tyler M. Sylvia, 21, was listed in fair condition at Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was transported last week following the accident on the Midpoint Memorial Bridge, according to hospital officials.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Sylvia was driving a Cadillac CTS east on CR 884 in the left lane on Thursday and approaching McGregor Boulevard. At 9:31 p.m., the front of the Cadillac hit the rear of an International 4700 truck, which was disabled in the left lane with its hazard lights on.
Sylvia sustained critical injuries in the crash and was taken to the hospital.
According to the FHP, the truck was unoccupied at the time. The two occupants of the truck were standing on the shoulder of the road during the accident. Neither of the occupants were injured.
The crash is not alcohol related, the FHP reported.
