Bokeelia resident charged with DUI manslaughter in July crash
Bokeelia resident Brenda Green was arrested Sunday and charged with DUI manslaughter in a July crash that killed a pedestrian.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office report Green was traveling north on Stringfellow Road near Marina Road on July 15 when she ran off the road. Her 2013 Kia Rio ran into a drainage ditch and went airborne striking 62-year-old Diane Frazee Luther.
Luther was pronounced dead at the scene.
Green was charged with homicide-negligent manslaughter vehicle (DUI cause of death to human or unborn child) plus three counts of DUI unlawful blood alcohol and damage property.
Green is being held without bond.
According to the LCSO website her scheduled trial date is Dec. 12, 2016, at 8:30 a.m.
