Stolen Rhodes to kick off Seven Seas Dock Party season

2 min read

Seven Seas Bait and Tackle will kick off its annual Dock Party season early this year – on Saturday, Oct. 15.

“We’re starting off earlier this year than we ever have,” owner Jim Frock said. “And we’re starting with one of the premier bands in Southwest Florida. Several words and phrases come to mind when seeing a live Stolen Rhodes performance for the first time: fiery, sensational and very exciting.”

The band, originally from Philadelphia, recently completed a tour that included over 250 dates plus festivals such as SXSW, Sturgis, Daytona Bike Week and Rocklahoma. The group opened for iconic artists such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Robert Randolph, Drivin’ N Cryin’ and Blackberry Smoke. It also spent a month touring as support for the Marshall Tucker Band.

“You know we started with the barge parties but had issues getting that done, so I decided to change over to dock parties,” Frock said. “I would like to invite all my neighbors, customers and everyone who attended the previous barge parties for an afternoon of fun, food and music on Saturday, Oct. 15. Stolen Rhodes will kick off the season at 2 p.m.

“Stolen Rhodes is just a great band,” Frock continued. “They do a lot of traveling and are on the road now preforming over 150 shows throughout the Midwest, including several large annual music festivals such as Milwaukee’s Summerfest, Rocklahoma and Alabama’s Toadlick Music Festival. So we’re lucky to be able to get them here.

“This is just a great way to have a party, use your boat and avoid the traffic altogether,” Frock said. “And it’s something to do on a Saturday afternoon. I pay for the band but donations are welcome to help defray the costs.”

Future dock parties will be on the third Sunday of every month (except December).

“Next month, Nov. 20, Brother Love III will be performing,” Frock said. “Our dock is the seventh dock on the northeast side of the Matlacha Bridge and the party begins at 2 p.m. and goes until 5 p.m.”

Boaters are asked to please not anchor in the channel!
