Italian Fest set for Sunday
The most important Italian phrase one can learn is Andiamo a mangiare Let’s go eat. Practice it in advance of the 8th Annual Italian Fest from 11 a.m. 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, at the Lee Country Alliance for the Arts, presented by the Rotary Club of Fort Myers. Celebrate the flavors of one of America’s favorite cuisines and support the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida and the Rotary Club of Fort Myers Trust.
Enjoy live music, cultural experiences and enough food to make any Italian grandmother proud, served up by Southwest Florida favorites like Bellacino’s Pizza & Grinders, LaMotta’s, Little Pete’s Food Truck, Mario’s, and Pizza Fusion.
The famous, and sometimes messy, spaghetti-eating contest will be back for both children and adults. Do your stomach-stretching exercises and get your cameras ready for this yearly highlight.
In addition to all that delectable food, a full lineup of entertainment runs from 11 a.m. 5 p.m. and includes 12-year-old singing sensation Abigail Fletcher, Accordion Classic, A Moment in Time with Robert Gonnelli and Creative Arts Dancers. The Alliance is always the perfect location for Italian Fest’s fun family activities like bocci, snag golf, corn hole, bounce houses, an obstacle course, face painting and arts & crafts. Blankets and chairs are permitted, but no coolers.
Admission to Italian Fest is free, but there is a cost to sample the restaurants’ offerings and for drink tickets. For more information on the Rotary Club of Fort Myers Italian Fest, email office@rotary-fortmyers.org or call (239) 332-8158.
